So why does everyone think it is a mobile game?
Four things push people toward the same wrong conclusion, and one of them is Google itself.
- Google labels it a “Mobile game”
The Google Knowledge Graph entity for States of Power carries the type “Mobile game”. Its interest curve sat at zero until mid-August and then jumped to its maximum on 26–27 August — exactly the Steam release — so the entity clearly refers to this PC game, with the platform type mislabelled.
- The .io domain reads as a browser game
Short .io domains are strongly associated with free browser games. Here the domain is just the developer’s shortlink to Steam.
- It looks like a mobile strategy game
A flat 2D map, mouse-only controls and short sessions resemble mobile 4X games, and the store page confirms a Mouse Only Option.
- Grand strategy fans want it on the go
The game advertises that a full match fits in one session, which is exactly the pitch a handheld player is looking for.
The closest you can get
If what you actually want is States of Power somewhere other than a desktop PC, these are the real options — none of them is a mobile port, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
